I will never forget a sermon I heard Bro Pat Greer preach at the East Union Bible Conference several years ago. The topic of the message was the dangers of “people pleasing.” Thanks Bro Pat for being so candid that day. It literally changed my ministry outlook and my life.
It is easy (especially in spiritual leadership) to become guilty of seeking man’s approval above all else.
One of the things that made Jesus such an effective leader was that He had a strong internal anchor (not to mention that He was God)
What do I mean by “strong internal anchor”? It simply means that Jesus didn’t get his approval from external mechanisms. Jesus didn’t base his actions or decisions on what Peter, John or James thought. He didn’t care weather he made Caesar smile and He didn’t get down because the Pharisees didn’t like Him.
Jesus stayed centered because His internal anchor was strong. He was always on point because He affirmed Himself by His will to please The Father.
So who are you seeking approval from?
What is your internal anchor?
